座繰り染織家・中野紘子
2003年より、座繰り染織家として活動。
江戸時代末期に群馬県で生まれた上州座繰りは、かつて農村女性たちの手仕事として、繭から糸を生み出してきた製糸技術です。
その歴史と、糸から布を構想していく工程に強く惹かれこの道を志すようになりました。
碓氷製糸株式会社で製糸の基礎を学んだ後、2003年に座繰り染織工房を開設。
繭の特性を活かし、さまざまな質感の糸を生み出すための探求を重ねながら、草木染めや手織りの技術を習得。
希少となりつつある技術を受け継ぎ、素材と向き合いながら、現在の暮らしの中で息づく作品づくりを心がけています。
2012年に個展を開催。以降、ギャラリーなどで個展・展示会を定期的に行っています。
2013年より座繰り染織り教室を開催し普及に努める

I have been working as a zaguri silk dyer and weaver since 2003.
Joshu Zaguri is a traditional silk-reeling technique that originated in Gunma Prefecture in the late Edo period. It was once practiced as a form of handwork by rural women, drawing silk thread directly from cocoons.
I was deeply drawn to its history and to the process of envisioning cloth beginning with the thread itself, which led me to pursue this path.
After studying the fundamentals of silk reeling at Usui Silk Mill Co., Ltd., I established my own zaguri dyeing and weaving studio in 2003.
By carefully working with each cocoon, I explore ways to draw out silk threads with varied thicknesses and tensions, combining plant-based dyeing and hand weaving to translate the natural irregularity and character of the material into cloth.
While inheriting techniques that have become increasingly rare, I aim to create textiles that continue to live within contemporary life—pieces that soften with use and remain close to those who use them over time.
Since my first solo exhibition in 2012, I have regularly presented my work through exhibitions and presentations at galleries and other venues.

About Zaguri
アトリエのある群馬県は古くから蚕糸絹業が盛んで1200年以上の歴史があります。江戸後期に開発された上州座繰りは現代まで細々と伝えられてきた希少な伝統技術です。
その糸づくりの技を受け継ぎ、染色、手織りを通じて絹の魅力を多くの方に感じていただけるよう日々制作しております。
